Setting the Record Straight

The World Trade Center was an architectural monstrosity obstructing the Manhattan skyline.  If anything good came out of 9/11 it was that the towers were knocked down rather than the Empire State Building which had been hit by an airplane before.

Now that there is a new administration in Washington, there are some lingering questions that still need to be answered.

1)  Did Larry Silverstein benefit financially from the destruction of the Twin Towers?

2)  What is his connection to the state of Israel?

3)  What information did FBI agent John O'Neill have about a possible terrorist attack prior to 9/11?

4)  Why was O'Neill discharged from the FBI?

5)  Were there Israelis present on the rooftop of a nearby building who were celebrating while the towers collapsed?

O'Bummer Economy

Mistakes always have consequences.

When G.W. Bush first took office and America was already too far in debt, VP Cheney believed that deficits don't matter.  What Bush did after September 11 was to commit America to spending an unlimited amount of money on a war that no one knew what it was about, and no one knew whether or not we could win.

Meanwhile, the Democrats in Congress led by Frank, Dodd and Pelosi, were creating a guaranteed insurance incentive for the financial sector to abandon good lending practices and start making bad loans to put minority and immigrant families in homes that they could not afford to live in, and where their neighbors did not want them to live next door anyway.  They simply do not have the skills to deserve living in upper middle class neighborhoods.  So naturally many of their homes were and are taken away in foreclosure.  The Democrats in Congress basically needed friends because they were so unpopular with ordinary Americans and for good reason.  This is really what redistribution does.

Government trying to stimulate the economy by spending or giving away to create demand is a ploy that simply doesn't work.

Road to Damascus

Many in America and throughout the world are praying for the conversion of Barack Obama. Can Obama have a change of heart in the Western Christian Tradition of Constantine, Covis, and Ronald Reagan who all went through a conversion of heart to become great world leaders, or will Obama's legacy be one of mediocrity?

St. Paul's conversion experience on the road to Damascus when he was thrown off his horse and temporarily lost his sight is an example of what could happen for America. The key element is that it was wholly an act of God. Saul of Tarsus wanted nothing to do with following Christ and joining the fledgling community of Christians whom he persecuted. Yet he became one of the bedrock leaders within the Church.

Obama has taken a step in the right direction in excising the earmark for contraception favored by Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman as an addition to Obama's economic stimulus package. This is truly a slap in the face to Planned Parenthood which has been responsible for so much killing in recent years.

Unlike the experience of St. Paul, Ronald Reagan's conversion occurred over several decades, becoming apparent with his pro-life leadership in the 1980 presidential campaign after having been a budget slashing, halfheartedly pro-choice governor in California. This is another example of God's work. Reagan left the White House as a strong Christian witness to truth, and was particularly committed to doing God's will after the attempt on his life on March 30, 1981. Clearly God wastes no time.

Ethnonationalism versus Globalization

Globalization is here whether we like it or not.  It is a direct result of improved communications technology.

Ethnonationalism however will not go away.  It is at the heart of what people value about themselves.  In the Book of Genesis, we read that God divided up the world into nations.  Obviously, the biblical writer inspired by God was using knowledge of existing nations as a starting point.  This is because nationality is fundamental to being human.  It all begins with the family.  Government cannot change this reality.  In trying to undermine family structure to build a utopian order, our government only engenders more hatred and violence.  

National traditions and rituals allow people to experience a transcendent reality based upon their own experience of family life.  The human relationship and contact with God begins in families.  The success or failure of human endeavors ultimately depends upon how people relate to God.  If we turn away from God by destroying family life, we ensure our own economic downfall.

Each family has certain ethnic characteristics.  This is the basis for nationalism.  More basic than nationalism is our common humanity.  We must learn to move beyond the "us versus them" divisions in society.  Christ takes us a step further teaching us to love our enemies.

Bailing Out the Bailouts

The government bank bailouts will have the effect of enriching those who have too much already and giving them an incentive to make more bad loans so that they can extort more money for doing nothing in future bailouts.  The logical effect will be the pauperization of all but the very rich.  

America will undergo economic dislocation as the wealth of American productivity is stolen by the wealthy class.  Only then will we be able to learn from our past mistakes, both in regard to the sanctity of life and not provoking wars with other nations.

What should Americans do to keep afloat?  The fallacy of self-sufficiency which got us into this mess must be rejected.  We must again show reverence to God and stop deifying man.  This will mean a complete overhaul of government from top to bottom so that the Christian majority will again be well represented, and the traitorous pigs booted out.

From the beginning of our nation, the right to self-government presupposes a modicum of common sense and adherence to truth.  Our education system must return to truth as its basis, not relativism.  We will have to undergo a period of poverty worse than the great depression in order to put first things first.  This is actually an opportunity for us to improve our economic system for our posterity including those yet unborn instead of killing them.  Our parents and forefathers made great sacrifices for us baby boomers.  Should we not be willing to undergo a little discomfort for our children and grandchildren and generations to come?

Obama on Wrong Side of History

President Obama's unfortunate decision to reverse the long standing Mexico City Policy of non-funding organizations that do or promote abortions reveals the major weakness of his administration.  Unlike Abraham Lincoln who acted courageously in the face of a growing evil and threat to democracy, Obama has chosen to appease evil by allocating government funds for abortions in foreign lands.  This shows a supreme lack of good judgment. 

Obama wavered at his inaugural oath-taking which indicates that he was not ready for the job.  The decision to fund Planned Parenthood overseas demonstrates clearly his legalistic narrow-mindedness to problem solving. 

Abortion is bad for everyone in society.  To think that good can ever result from doing evil is falling under the spell of deception.  In reality, abortion and contraception, like over-consumption and abuse, are the very things that prevent the realization of justice for the poor and disenfranchised among us.

Recent DNA paternity studies regarding Thomas Jefferson's relationship with Sally Hemings reveal that Jefferson possessed a rare type of Y-Chromosome DNA, haplogroup K2 renamed haplogroup T. Y-Chromosome DNA is transmitted directly from father to son without change and determines among other characteristics male gender. This type originated in Asia and was common among the Phoenicians along the Mediterranean Coast in ancient times. The Phoenicians were avid sailors and had settlements in North Africa, Italy, and Spain. The DNA type is also relatively common in Cadiz on the west coast of Spain which was a Phoenician settlement.

Jefferson's grandfather was from Gwynnedd, Wales. It is known through DNA testing that the majority Welsh are descended from the Basques of the Iberian Peninsula. Therefore, Jefferson's paternal ancestors may have been Phoenician settlers from Cadiz, or so it has been suggested.

Jefferson's ancestors may also have been Italians who arrived in Wales with the Romans as memorialized in Chesterton's poem The Ballad of the White Horse. Jefferson's estate of Monticello is of Italian design.

No Pardon for Scooter Libby

The question has been raised as to why President Bush pardoned border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, and not Scooter Libby.

If we look below the surface, it is not just a question of allowing him to practice law rather than writing an expose' on the Bush Administration as some have suggested. Remember that after President Ford pardoned Richard Nixon, the California State Bar still went ahead and disbarred him, and so he could not practice even if he wanted to. President Bill Clinton, although not pardoned, was likewise disbarred by the state of Arkansas after his impeachment and so cannot practice law. It is a question of states rights pursuant to the Tenth Amendment.

With regard to Libby, I recall that just before Thanksgiving reading a column by Rosa Brooks for the Los Angeles Times in which she said that if Nixon pardoned any of the White House Staff that he would be the biggest turkey of them all. Maybe this explains why Libby was not pardoned.
