David and Goliath

My educated guess would be that if we checked out the Y-chromosome DNA of a representative sample of the people of present day Palestine, that many of the results would be traceable to a first millennium BC male ancestor which would confirm the Biblical account of King Solomon's many wives and offspring, thereby also being lineal descendants of King David in the male line. Such DNA testing has been done with regard to the probable male lineal descendants of Genghis Khan in Asia, Charlemagne in Europe, and King Niall of Ireland.

Palestine was given that name by the Romans, probably first used in a derogatory sense to denote the land of the Philistines along the Mediterranean coast of Gaza.

David was a shepherd who used his sling to kill wild animals, and also the Philistine giant Goliath in battle. It is somewhat ironic that the first to adore Christ were shepherds in Bethlehem, also probable ancestors of the present day Palestinians. The practice of using slings by Palestinians against Israeli armored vehicles could thus go back a long way in time, passed down from one generaion to the next.

Of course the Jewish people are those who belong to the sacred covenant between God and Abraham, whatever their lineal descent may actually be.  It is my understanding as a gentile that belonging to the Jewish community derives from descent from the mother, or by conversion to Judaism.

Should Israel Be Setting Our Energy Agenda?

Modern day Israel is a fulfillment of Biblical prophesy concerning the return of the Jews to the promised land.  These returning Jews from among the gentiles are primarily the descendants of converts to Judaism in Europe and Asia who had mixed with the local Europeans, and thus their fair appearance.  After the destruction of the Temple in the year 70, the Jews of Palestine also mixed with the local inhabitants, the Canaanites, Philistines who were maritime settlers, Greeks and Romans in Palestine, producing what we now call the Palestinian people.  Palestine was then conquered by the Arab Muslims and changed hands with the Crusaders of Europe, and then conquered by the Turks before coming under the British Mandate.  Modern day Palestinians are a mix of all of these elements genetically.  Others migrated directly from Palestine to western Europe, and then returned to Israel as well.

During all of these years, there has been a struggle between Christ and anti-Christ.  The Hebrew people outside of Judea of course had nothing at all to do with Christ's death.  In recent history, anti-Christ took the form of Naziism under Hitler and Communism under Stalin.  Jews and Christians both suffered.

Religious freedom is essential in today's world.  People have a right to believe in a transcendent Deity and to express their beliefs and to act on their beliefs.  It is wrong to punish the Christian majority by disallowing the display of Christian symbols in the public square as an expression of popular devotion to God.  Jewish symbols may also be appropriate in the public square as much of our American heritage derives from our Hebraic Christian and Jewish roots.  Generally, symbols of other belief systems, whether Moslem, pagan, or other, are inappropriate in our public square which belongs to all of the people, the vast majority of whom are Christians who do not share the belief sentiments of these minorities, if indeed that is what they actually believe.

Energy policy should be based on what is best for America.  America needs coal, gas and oil.  There are plenty of reserves of these natural resources.  It is wrong to deny these resources to the majority of Christian American families, using protection of wildlife as a justification, but in reality to keep America dependent on foreign energy sources so as to blackmail America into defending the state of Israel regardless of what they do to their neighbors.

Socialism and Original Sin

The rediscovery of America by Christopher Columbus provided an opportunity to learn from Europe's mistakes in creating a new society in the New World.  At this historic moment, can America learn from the mistakes of the past?

Socialism is a necessary evil in that it acts as a crucible to burn away the excesses of avarice and greed.  It is probably an unavoidable stage in the evolutionary process.  The downside of socialism is that everything we do from cradle to grave is controlled by government.  President Obama has pledged to act wisely in putting government restraints on the market.  We can learn much from those nations that have passed through the crucible in Central and Eastern Europe.

The challenge of Conservatives is to fight for basic human rights which are often overlooked in central planning decisions.  It is unlikely that America will undergo the extreme form of socialism of Communist regimes.  Prospectively we can arrive at a balance which will keep intact our cherished free markets and individual decisions as a guiding force.

Ariadne's Thread Beginning to Unravel

Those studying ancient Greek mythology know the story of how the beautiful princess Ariadne saved noble Theseus from the Minotaur, half man, half bull, in her father's Cretan labyrinth. Today a similar situation exists in America. Stubbornly stuck in a neo-pagan labyrinthine culture, the life thread is providing a way to safety. Death culture previously took the form of eugenics which brought about the holocaust. Now it is deceitfully disguised as institutional racism preserved in the Senate chamber. Barack Obama was the first Black man elected Senator in American history. This is significant because the life thread is unraveling precisely at the point where the old culture is weakest. The notion of reproductive rights goes back to the idea that some people are arrogantly superior to others. Since slavery was abolished, the suppression and feminization of the Black male in particular took the form of trying to persuade Blacks to emigrate to Africa voluntarily in the 19th century, and then when that didn't work, to limit reproduction of those considered socially undesirable under the euphemism of reproductive rights. Since a disproportionately large proportion of undesirables by societal standards were Black males, the idea was to use the eugenic approach to reduce the number of Black males and eventually to eliminate them altogether.

The plan did not work because the birth rate among Blacks was substantially higher than among Whites. With the advent of legalized contraception and abortion, the birth rate plummeted and immigration primarily from Mexico and the Caribbean filled the population void in America. Now, the percent of Blacks has not increased over time proportionally. However, in keeping the fiction of superiority believable, it had been necessary to keep Black males out of the US Senate. Carol Moseley-Braun, a Black woman, did not matter in that the fiction specifically required the suppression and elimination of the Black male. Barack, whose father was free African, could be tolerated as not having been descended from the slave class.

The life thread is unraveling with the appointment of a Black man to take Barack's place in the Senate. The fiction of superiority is about to give way. Absent this pernicious justification, abortion will become a thing of the past. This one small thread is all that it will take to defeat and eventually kill the Minotaur and escape from the labyrinth of death.

Forget about the Humans, Save the Wild Geese!

In the wake of the spectacular water landing of US Airways Flight 1549, president-elect Barack Obama should revise his plans for after his Inaugural. Instead of making his first official act the closure of Gitmo or signing FOCA into law, Obama should direct the FAA to ground all foreign and domestic air traffic until Congress approves an environmental impact report with regard to the effects of air travel on bird species and fish in the Hudson River and their eggs. This must include the impact of air travel on the migratory patterns of wild geese and other migratory species. Since everyone knows that ducks and geese travel south for the winter in a distinctive V formation, Obama should also require that Congress enter into a multinational treaty with Canada and Mexico to insure their protection before any flight schedules are resumed.

Obviously, the noise and exhaust of even light aircraft and helicopters can be hazardous to all aviary species. Forced landings can also be harmful to aquatic species. Many of these are undoubtedly on the endangered species list. Moreover, there are definite habitats for certain birds such as Capistrano for the swallows and Orlando for the snowbirds which should be kept off limits as federally protected wildlife habitat reserves.

Since the government is bailing out everybody, why not the birds and fish?

Why Appeasement Won't Work

Before the outbreak of the Second World War, the British Prime Minister met with German Chancellor Adolf Hitler to try to work out a settlement regarding German aspirations to unite the German speaking people of central Europe.  England essentially acceded to Germany's demands to annex the Sudetenland and to relinquish the Baltic port of Danzig, all the while offering Poland guarantees of protection from German invasion.  I am one who believes that Europe could have stopped the Nazi rise to power had there been the necessary moral resolve to do so.

Over the last several decades, America has been engaged in another form of shameful appeasement.  The intellectuals have surrendered our most basic Christian values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for a utopian dream of multiculturalism summed up in the rhetorical question of an African American in Los Angeles arrested while intoxicated, "Can't we just all get along?".  As with Naziism before, this modern liberal appeasement taking the forms of racial quotas, affirmative action, equal opportunity, sexual irresponsibility, homosexual marriage, and animal rights, is doomed from the start.

Why is this so?

The European interregnum truce was unjust to begin with, and based upon false premises.  This gave Hitler the upper hand in making unrealistic demands for German unification based upon Woodrow Wilson's idealistic vision of self-determination.  Justice does not require that all peoples speaking the same language in a given area be under the same umbrella, as Wilson prescribed.  A better approach was that of Metternich a century before, incorporating the traditional criteria of national legitimacy.  But because the settlement was built upon a sand foundation and stacked against Austria, Hungary and Germany, Hitler could easily appear creditable.

As England's appeasement gave way to the German invasion of Poland, so too the American appeasement will bring about economic dislocation.  This of course will have a global effect.  America will become socialist first.  The world will be governed by secular standards divorced from God.  Within the coming decades, socialist America will not be able to economically withstand severe natural disasters.  Europe and the Russian federation will break up.  The United Nations will crumble.  A new form of economic organization will give birth out of the ashes of history.  America's destiny will insure peace and justice with respect to a separate Palestinian state and an Israeli state, with Jerusalem to become an international city of pilgrimage open to all people of good will.

The Limits of Wizardry

Three Wise Men Wizardry, financial or otherwise, has its limits.

The Magi who arrived in Bethlehem from the East over 2000 years ago correspond more or less to what we would call wizards or astrologers. Their ancient religion was based upon careful studying of the sky and how it changes over time. With modern day computer technology, we gain a fair idea of what they were looking at in the East and in Judea based upon what we know about the time frame for Christ's birth from historians of that day.

Their stargazing was relevant because it was a part of God's design from the beginning of time to bring the Gentiles or goiim to Christ so as to open redemption from sin to the whole world. Christ's coming was the fulfillment of ancient religion. Once they had presented their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the child, their old religion became somewhat superfluous and anachronistic.

Science and technology provide tools for mankind to bring about peace, health, and prosperity on earth. This will come about if we keep them in their proper perspective, always thanking God for the gifts he gives us. With this perspective in mind, there is a proper ordering of the things of this world and of the unseen spiritual world. Man will only learn to protect the environment when he first learns to make God the highest priority. Modern day wizardry can then serve God and man together.

Why McCain Lost

History has a way of repeating itself, and if we don't learn the lessons of history we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

McCain's fatal mistake was in forbidding his vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin to address the pro-life gathering in Minneapolis at the time of the Republican Convention.

Abortion is a grave moral evil.  McCain received bad advise from his campaign handlers and tried to minimize the issue and sweep it under the rug.  Think of what would have happened had not Abraham Lincoln come out forcefully against the spread of slavery into the territories in 1860.  Instead, Lincoln chose to face the issue.  In fact, we learn from history that this was his overriding issue throughout most of his life.

Ronald Reagan began his political career as being halfheartedly pro-choice.  I remember as a high school student in California the day that he signed legalized abortion into law.  I cannot say that I was always pro-life.   In my college days, I was led into error by the libertarian point of view.  Reagan was a libertarian who reversed course when he understood the centrality of the right to life to preserve our liberty and democratic way of life.

It is never easy to say whether one decision could have changed an election.

Could Abraham Lincoln have beaten Stephen Douglas if Lincoln had swept the slavery issue under the rug in 1860?  Probably not.

Could Reagan have won had he not campaigned strongly pro-life in 1980?

The lesson of history is that Americans do not vote for candidates who avoid important issues.

Could McCain have won had he given Sarah Palin the chance to address the Minneapolis-St. Paul conference last year, and then go on from there with enough latitude to force the life issue with Obama and Biden?  I think so.

The Politixxx of Corruption

Anyone who still doesn't believe in original sin should spend a day in the Big Apple.

Today we are led to believe that God has no place in the secular state.  Without a point of reference, the goal of the statesman is to advance his or her own selfish interests to any extent possible within the legal confines, and to go outside those limits is viewed simply as risk taking with a willingness to pay the price if necessary.  The internal clock regulator is deliberately turned off.

In this respect, did Henry Paulson do anything worse with his gazillion dollar bailout than Madoff, Slatkin or Keating?  Giving money to the banks may actually keep Goldman Sachs in business for a while, and help families who had been tricked into exorbitant loans to stay in their homes.  Keating was an anti-pornography crusader.  Did he forget that the ends cannot justify immoral means?  Had these people's clocks worked properly, they would have realized early on that theft, embezzlement, fraud, and usury are all sins.  Turn off the clocks by judicial fiat as we did beginning in the 1960's and this is what we get.

To begin the recovery process, SCOTUS will have to come out and say point blank that although there may be some nebulous right to privacy embedded somewhere in the Constitution, it does not give anyone the right to practice contraception at home, to produce and distribute pornography, or let alone to abort one's own or another's unborn child.

Having scuttled the clock and without an internal point of reference, the courts and other branches of government are now left with only precedent as a guidepost, which is another way of saying that because someone did it before, it must be OK.  Precedent has value within a narrow context.  In our society, it has become a fetish, one to which those in control of the media are particularly susceptible.

Realistic Conservative Principles

For the most part, the Democratic Party is made up of Black, Mexican, White trash and Jews.

The strategy of the Republican Party has been to try to appease the Black and Mexican minorities.  This has failed although several Black and other minority leaders have risen like stars in the Republican fold.

As I perceive it, the error of Republicans is to overlook their majority base.  Whites make up well over half of the population.  The Republicans at the national level are usually guaranteed about a quarter of the votes through White male voters.  At this stage of capitalism moving toward socialism, Republican attempts to cater to Blacks and Mexicans only alienate White male voters who feel, often justifiably, cheated by minority preferences.

A winning strategy is to win over White females.  This is what McCain tried to do in nominating Sarah Palin.  The Democrats have nothing to offer White women except the trash of government handouts, abortion, and equal opportunity which is a euphemism for exploitation of women.  Obviously the pornography industry is a big contributor to all of this.

Republicans must give women a way out of the trash of abortion and pornography.  To do this, we must begin to offer tangible solutions for White women since this is the anomaly that has stopped or prevented Republican conservatives from winning elections in the past.  There must be a crackdown on pornography, drugs and illegal immigration.

How the Grinch Almost Stole Christmas

For some reason Al Franken reminds me of the cartoon character of Dr. Seuss that many of us grew up with.

His 225 vote lead is almost too statistically improbable to believe. Whenever there is an election this close, there is always the suspicion that one side or another has cooked the books. This happened in the 2000 presidential election of Bush versus Gore. That is why we have the state and federal courts. Far from becoming politicized, they insure that elections are fair in America.

Perhaps Franken will end up with a lump of coal from Coleman this year.

Europe's Christian Roots

World War I would have come to an end a lot sooner and there would have been far fewer casualties had France returned to her Catholic Christian roots which had been put aside over a century before.  As Prussia was the real aggressor, France could have won the victory in the trench warfare with God's help before America intervened.  Instead, the world ended up with a shaky armistice whose terms were set by cynical politicians at Versailles in 1918.  Instead of a just settlement, the cards were stacked against Austria, Hungary and Germany setting the stage for World War II.  Because the leaders of France including Georges Clemenceau refused to acknowledge their Christian heritage and offer a just solution, they abrogated their responsibilities as God allowed in order to bring about a greater good.

France is often criticized in America for remaining neutral or helping Germany during World War II.  Actually, France had no other choice because the French fashioned the peace settlement which prevented a just peace and insured further war.  World War II was part of the chastisement for rejecting God.

Today it is no accident that Nicolas Sarkosy who is more European than French is leading France within the European Union.  The EU continues to officially ignore their Christian heritage in their Constitution.  Will Sarkosy advance Europe toward its true Christian destiny as a world power, or cause its continual regression and break up into pieces under an officially neutral regime?
