Bush Doctrine on Target

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Capitalism contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction.

Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda were primarily responsible for financing the terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. Other than training the hijackers, they had little to do with the actual attack on 9/11. Today, Osama is either dead or incapacitated.

The real culprits of 9/11 were the same crowd who tried to blow up the WTO in 1993, attempted to assassinate the pope and stage airplane hijackings from the Philippines in January 1995, and masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing in April of that year. The leaders of this gang of thugs were Ramsey Yousef and Khalid Sheik Mohammed, both with ties to Iraq and possibly receiving financial aid from bin Laden and his family. This is also corroborated by bin Laden's own statement in 2001 that those responsible for 9/11 acted as free independent agents.

The administration of George W. Bush did not want to implicate Iraq because that would have shown how stupid it really was to attack Saddam's forces after the Kuwait invasion in 1991. Still, there remains a clear trail of blood leading out of Iraq between 1991 and 2001.

America has clearly stopped terrorism in its tracks. All that is left to do now is orederly withdrawals of US and NATO forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Was It the Forty Virgins?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Speculation continues as to what could have possibly motivated Major Nidal Malik Hasan MD to open fire in Fort Hood, killing 13, most of whom being active duty service men and women, and wounding 31 others. Obviously, Hasan was distraught over his orders to deploy to Iraq after Thanksgiving. He gave away many of his personal belongings stating that he was being deployed three weeks ahead of schedule, obviously not expecting to live much longer. One clue may be found in the Qur'an itself. As in the case of the 9/11 hijackers, it may be that Hasan, a devout Muslim, was expecting his reward of forty virgins in Paradise for waging jihad against the infidel.

Medical doctors are called to heal, to save lives, not to kill human beings. If Hasan survives, he will learn this vital lesson, hopefully being confined to the military brig for the rest of his earthly life. Abortionists had better take notice.

So much for the virgins.

A Reconstituted Reagan Coalition?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The Reagan presidency reconciled three elements that often seemed opposed to each other. These were the social, fiscal and defense conservatives respectively.

Today's world is much different than that of 1980 when Reagan began making his stump speeches across the country igniting a wave of prairie fires caused by discontent with big government. But the principles are the same. Limited government and lower taxes, keeping the federal government at bay.

Today there is no central national leader to lead the charge. Instead, the wave of indignation is occurring spontaneously at tea parties and town hall meetings nationwide. The lesson of November 3 is that Americans are reasserting their God given liberty which transcends political categories. Either the politicians will get on board, or they will face extinction in the upcoming elections.

Those who view Doug Hoffman's showing in New York's 23rd as a defeat completely miss the point of the reawakening process. As in the days of Ronald Reagan, this is all about redistribution, but not as Obama's supporters envision.

Both Wars Stink

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

While the MSM has predictably jumped on the Obama bandwagon in distinguishing between the Iraq war as a war of choice as opposed to the Afghanistan war of necessity, the fact remains that both wars together have taken a huge toll in terms of American lives, economic resources, and world recognition. The criticism leveled against Bush 43 for leading American forces into Iraq is not altogether justified. There had to be some strong military response after 9/11. To blame everything on Al Qaeda, and the Afghan Taliban for harboring Al Qaeda, seems simplistic at best. Saddam's regime was far more brutal and dictatorial than that of the Taliban, and was responsible for some of the terrorist violence preceding 9/11.

Unfortunately, America's war crimes, particularly those directed against detainees many of whom were demonstrably innocent, more than offset any rational justification for war at this point. Capitalism breeds vindictiveness. The legitimate goal of interrogation gave way to the temptation to exact vengeance and to dehumanize and ridicule.

Obama's exit strategy is the beginning of our economic recovery. Iraq and Afghanistan will never become like us. The sooner we realize this, the better.

Obama's Afghan War Policy Makes Sense So Far

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Americans are sick and tired of nation building which is just a recipe for more big government. President Obama acts wisely in resisting the tempting pleas of the military brass for higher troop levels. The goal in Afghanistan should not be to remake a small nation into a democracy like us. The Afghans have clearly demonstrated that they do not want a society based upon free elections, even though we Americans may think that we know what is best for them.

As in Iraq, the best course to follow is to bring about an orderly exit of American and NATO forces as soon as possible through negotiating with the Taliban and other resistance forces, while avoiding a bloodbath. Karzai will have to go. It is just a question of how long he has to act as puppet.

Afghanistan was not the good, necessary war any more than Iraq was the bad war of choice. Saddam's was by far a worse dictatorship than that of the Taliban. Either way, Muslims do not believe in democracy. They believe in total submission to Allah. That is why their women cover their heads in public, and not because of a paternalistic, male dominated society.

Obama, being a Christian brought up in the Muslim tradition, is uniquely qualified to act as peacemaker with respect to Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. The key to peace is that we show mutual respect for each other's civilizations and cultures.

Sour Grapes in Upstate New York

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The exit of the hand picked Republican candidate in upstate New York's 23rd Congressional District special election, and her endorsement of her Democrat rival, or rather they are both like two peas in a pod, is the height of cynicism. Since she is so liberal, why doesn't she just change her name to Abdullah and have it over with. At least that name would be a lot easier to pronounce.

Seriously, don't be surprised if the conservative candidate pulls off an upset victory in this race tomorrow. Both major party organizations, Democrat and Republican, are now clamoring behind their Napoleon whose Waterloo will be health care reform.

Has the GOP Run Its Course?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The 23rd congressional race is shaping up to be a battle in upstate New York between two liberals and one conservative. The Republican candidate was hand picked to represent views antithetical to most conservative Republicans. This sends the clear message that the Republican Party is just another materialistic, bureaucratic monstrosity that does not represent real American citizens.

Is there room for a fledgling third party?

The country is leaning more and more toward doing away with abortion. Any sensible person realizes that jobs and the economy cannot take precedence over whether future generations of Americans are allowed to be born, or are killed off. The great lie foisted upon America is slowly being unraveled.

Independents are more likely to choose a third party candidate when both of the major parties show contempt for American good sense and values. The real problem is a lack of real community. Capitalists abhor authentic community spirit because it means that people will not be as easily cajoled into accepting bribes in exchange for their liberty. Authentic immigrant communities did exist, but were put down and ridiculed by greedy upstarts who themselves lived isolated from any real community. These cynics in turn were rewarded and built up by the wealthy class, until even the political leadership of the communities lost its authenticity and became part of the materialistic mass culture. This is the source of America's problems today. But it is also the source of a greater good, because the seeds of the communities that have disappeared still exist and are indestructible. The cultural war rages on.

The Copenhagen Fiasco and the G-20

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The Copenhagen Climate Summit looks like it may fizzle out. China and India, our future biggest economic rivals, have opted out. Likewise, Obama has RSVP'd that he will not be in attendance. Despite the rhetoric, nations need to act together to bring greenhouse gasses under control. Extending carbon credits to nations and multinational corporations is a workable solution. As stewards of the environment, it does not make any difference how much pollution is man-made and how much is naturally caused. The point is, we must live within the limitations set by God. At the recent G-20 summit, University of Pittsburgh student Kyle Kramer was forced to kneel by Chicago police for a trophy photo. This goes to show how irresponsible and out of touch some local government agencies are with the American people whom they are commissioned to serve. The bad news is that some law enforcement officers now regard themselves as Americops, or worse yet as Cosmocops (see inset). The good news is that more and more law enforcement and military are now taking their obligations to serve seriously, which brings hope that the higher level wrongdoers in government will face justice soon.

The Wisdom of Our Founding Fathers

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The Constitution of the United States is a quintessentially practical document. The first thing that comes to mind in examining Article II, Section 1 are the words "at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution" in reference to eligibility for the office of President. Anyone who was already a citizen of one of the thirteen several states following the American Revolution and within the age limits could serve as President. As to these citizens, it did not matter whether they or their fathers were subject to a foreign power or not. As to those who were not citizens at the time of Adoption or ratification, only those who were "natural born" were eligible for the office of President, meaning that they must be born in one of the states which form the Union, and that each of their fathers must have been a citizen of one of these states at the time of their birth. This gives our government the power to discriminate against the foreign born and those whose fathers were subjects of a foreign power, with regard to qualifications for the offices of President and Vice-President as amended. Arguably, the "natural born" requirement should also pertain to what was meant at the time of Adoption.

The rationale for the rule is clearly to prohibit those who may have mixed loyalties from serving in the highest office in the land, as John Jay made clear to our first President George Washington. Clearly, the Fourteenth Amendment's inclusion of all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, as citizens, does not change the limitations on qualifications for President or Vice-President, because the rationale behind the Fourteenth Amendment was not to change eligibility for higher office, but rather to confer citizenship on the newly emancipated freemen following the Civil War. Using the limited formula for qualification to be President or Vice-President, the first generation freemen would not have been eligible to hold these offices, but this is a moot point insofar as none of them ever became candidates.

In our history, Chester Arthur, whose father was Irish born and a subject of George IV at the time of Chester's birth, still got to be President because he succeeded President Garfield who died in office. The electorate rejected the candidacies of Barry Goldwater in 1964 and John McCain in 2008. Barry Obama is the stealth President. Could it be that Barry Obama was elected only because neither candidate was qualified to hold this office in 2008?

FOI What a Joke!

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Before the Freedom of Information Act, the government only released whatever information it wanted to release. Today, the government only releases what it wants because of corrupt judges and Senators who change the meaning of the law in specific cases.

Fox News recently filed an FOI Claim demanding the release of the financial records of the Federal Reserve having to do with TARP. The result? A federal justice orders the release of exactly one document and then dismisses the rest of the action without explanation.

The government was ordered on appeal to release evidence of misconduct with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan. The result? Senators Graham and Lieberman have introduced bipartisan legislation supported by the president that would exempt certain photographic records taken between September 11, 2001 and January 22, 2009 which happens to be the anniversary of Roe vs Wade.

The government has already released photographs and videos of mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib in 2004 which, because of their pornographic nature, have diminished American prestige throughout the world and seriously endanger our troops. The question arises, were not these photographs and videos bad enough? Is the unreleased evidence even more damning than the released evidence? This would be the inescapable conclusion of a Democratic Congress amending the FOA, which already has a national security exemption with which the government is unable to comply, to exclude the very evidence that the federal appellate justice ordered produced.

The released photos include evidence of forced nudity, sleep deprivation, masturbation in front of our soldiers, rape, and dogs used to scare and bite detainees.

In all probability, the unreleased photographs show even worse forms of abuse. What could be worse except than certain forms of indecency which would prove that the homosexual agenda traitors, again sponsored by certain Senators and Congressional Representatives who have betrayed America, are allowed to act with impunity? Adolf Hitler himself was known to practice coprophilia. The LA Times ran a story after the Iraq invasion in 2003 about a sexual sadist who held a command position in Iraq.  If America does not act to expel this subculture of sexual perverts in our government and in our military, and stop the massive increases in unpaid government debt, we as a nation will very soon be facing the same fate as Germany did in 1949.

This evidence must be released to quell the speculation about America at home and abroad, and to expose and punish those in our government who allowed this thing to happen, both the abuses under predominantly Republican administrations and the cover-ups under predominantly Democrat administrations including Senators Graham and Lieberman. Punishment is warranted for violations of the Treaty of Westphalia in 1658-1659 which ended the Thirty Years War, and the Geneva Conventions and decisions at Nuremberg after WWII.

America must first come clean by releasing all of the evidence, and then start telling our ungrateful allies and surrogates throughout the world that we have our own problems to deal with.

Further Reflections on Hamlet

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

In the play Hamlet, the protagonist appears to have lived at the dawn of Christianity in Denmark, as we may gather from Shakespeare's use of the Roman name Claudius for Hamlet's ill-fated uncle. This would put him in the early to mid-9th century, about the time of the first missionary activity in Denmark and Sweden of the Frankish St. Ansgar, not a bad guess for Shakespeare in placing the legendary Amleth over three centuries before his first surviving written account by Saxo in the late 12th century, although Amleth was probably a pagan prince whose grandfather lived in the 7th century.

Hamlet is then a transitional figure between two worlds, paganism and Christianity. His moral judgment can be expected to encompass both.

Comparisons to Obama apparently originate with Sam Schulman's article in the Weekly Standard of March 9, 2009. This represents the neo-conservative point of view.

There is some validity in that both Hamlet and Obama were still young when they experienced a meteoric rise to power. Axelrod and Plouffe are readily substituted for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Both Hamlet and Obama are transitional in fully accepting the teachings of Christ, one can assume, as both of Obama's parents were atheists, his father having roots in Islam, Christianity and animism in Kenya. The comparison is valid then in shedding some light on Obama's controversial appearance at the Notre Dame University graduation ceremony. Hamlet's actions were motivated by a desire to avenge his father's death. It is hard to see how this fits in with Obama's life. One would have to dissect Dreams from My Father allegedly ghost written by Bill Ayers to find the answer to this question.

Regarding Obama's ambivalent style which WPR's Judah Grunstein characterizes as "weak and vacillating" particulary with respect to foreign policy decisions last month, also in reference to Hamlet, my view is that both personalities act cautiously and wait for a propitious time to act as fate would allow. Some of this criticism is obviously exaggerated, as for example, in regards to Anita Dunn's use of a quotation from Mao. This particular trait, according to some, is what led ultimately to Hamlet's tragic demise.

Will Rahm Be Next Unqualified Candidate?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The rise of neo-conservatism during the Bush administrations coupled with presidential aspirations of politicians with dual citizenship is clearly an attempt at an Israeli takeover of the United States from within.

Rahm Emanuel, who is believed by some to be an Israeli agent, is the likely next choice for a Democratic candidate after Obama leaves office. Although he was born in Chicago, both of Rahm's parents were from Israel. This gives Rahm an equal status with Barack Obama of being qualified or unqualified to serve as President of the United States. If the Supreme Court finds that Barack is unqualified, Rahm will be unable to seek higher office, his presidential aspirations will be frustrated, and America will not become surrogate to the state of Israel. Conversely, if the Supreme Court finds that Barack is qualified, this will give Rahm the green light to subordinate America's national interest to that of Israel. This is clearly what is at stake. Rahm himself has stated his opportunistic belief to not let a serious crisis go to waste.

It is therefore a critical time in history for Americans to do all that we can to expose the lies of Barack Obama and the Chicago Mafia. Americans must make sure that our Constitutional form of government is not subverted. We must keep all those disloyal Americans with adverse interests or divided loyalties out of our government as our Founding Fathers intended.

Balloon Dad May Be Like Ponzi

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Richard Heene, father of six year-old Falcon who was thought to have drifted off in a balloon, could be another con artist like Charles Ponzi.

Just before he died, Ponzi told an American reporter, "Even if they never got anything for it, it was cheap at that price. Without malice aforethought I had given them the best show that was ever staged in their territory since the landing of the Pilgrims! It was easily worth fifteen million bucks to watch me put the thing over."

There is no doubt that the suspense of the boy in the balloon provided America and the world with a lot of entertainment. Some people would do anything for a little publicity.

Rational Health Care Needed

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

There is no reason why America which put a man on the moon cannot bring about a health care system workable for all.

A just health care bill must overtly exclude abortion from health care benefits. This will shift the cost of all abortions to those seeking abortions, thereby reducing the frequency of abortion in America.

Health care must be affordable for all. Since most health care costs are incurred in the last months of life, we should strive to minimize the more costly medical procedures such as organ transplants and brain surgery for the elderly. Examples of misplaced resources include, for example, the costly brain surgeries performed on Robert Novak and on Teddy Kennedy when they only had less than two years to live. These scarce medical resources could have been better allocated to providing basic care for the poor, or hospice care for the elderly. A rational health care system should require that all extra costly services and extraordinary services be charged directly against the recipient.

Health care benefits must include all immigrants here legally. Most of these immigrant families work for a living. Requiring employers to obtain health care coverage for all full time employees should therefore also include these families as well, who will then share in the cost. Legal immigrants who are poor and unemployed should also receive benefits along with those American families who cannot afford coverage at reduced premiums.
