Clemmons Clemency Should Put Huckabee Out of Race

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Once again, the field is narrowing for 2012. In the absence of a strong pro-life Democrat or third party candidate to challenge Obama, the two front runners on the right are now Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.

Mike Huckabee acted as more of a spoiler in the Republican primary last year which may have sealed Romney's fate. Now with the news of the Seattle cop killings allegedly at the hands of the released convict Maurice Clemmons now deceased, his credibility as a law and order candidate has justifiably sunk.

The question then becomes, will Romney or Palin, if elected in 2012, continue a failed war policy in Afghanistan, or bring the troops home?

The Palin Factor II

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

As things stand today, Sarah Palin is the only potential candidate with any chance of dethroning Obama in 2012. This is because the wealthy capitalist elite has succeeded in conditioning the electorate to believe that diversity is, in and of itself, a good thing for America.

Obama won in 2008 because he is black. It will take an even greater anomaly, namely a credible, intelligent woman candidate, to overcome Obama's presumptuousness because of race.

To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, you can only fool all of the people some of the time.

Obamacare Only Tip of Iceberg

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Health care is only the tip of the iceberg. Anger and contempt for federal and state government have been building up for decades, and all because of betrayals and mismanagement of the few in government which were distorted by mass media outlets.

Take for example the case of Terry Schiavo. There was absolutely no reason for her to die. The courts promulgated a grave injustice equal to, if not worse than, racial segregation. President Kennedy used federal marshals in 1963 to stop racial segregation despite objections by governor George Wallace standing outside the classroom door in Alabama. Why could not something similar have been done for Terry Schiavo? Either of the Bush brothers could have acted to save a woman's life. If anyone was ever deprived of constitutional rights, she was. Yet there was no action forthcoming either in Florida or at the federal level. So why should Americans believe that the government cares about their health or well-being, and stand back idly while Congress and the President set up another Draconian nightmare of bureaucratic red tape? Has this socialistic approach ever worked in the past?

John McCain brilliantly began to tap into this groundswell in nominating Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. The trouble was that he didn't follow through. McCain was overly committed to the neo-conservative agenda of Randy Scheunemann and Joe Lieberman who perceived Palin as being a major threat to war funding for Israel. McCain refused to allow her to let the genie out of the bottle by addressing the pro-life gathering in Minnesota outside the convention. Taking this subject off the table in 2008 only unleashed the anger expressed at town hall gatherings in 2009. Today, most Americans feel betrayed by Congress, the President, and the Courts, and rightly so.

It may well be that this betrayal is a manifestation of the stage of capitalism in which we are now living. Any society that takes selfishness to the extreme to which America has done, and has deliberately shunned religion and morality from public life, will be faced with big problems.

Liberals in government have dug themselves into a deep hole. Like their predecessors during the French Revolution, they are now forced to either accept a flawed agenda of more and more government sponsored killing, or put their own careers and lives in danger because their past actions are criminal and punishable by any just standard of law. Let us hope that our nation can resolve these conflicts and not fall into the cycle of reprisals for past misdeeds.

Pundits Damn Palin Either Way

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Even before releasing her resignation announcement on July 3, the media pundits had already written Governor Sarah Palin's political obituary. In their view, Palin had already lost the 2012 Republican presidential primary because of her husband's past separatist tendencies in Alaska. Was this guilt by association?

After she announced that she would be stepping down beginning next week, the pundits were outdoing each other to drive the last nail into her coffin.

Maybe Palin does not want to run in 2012. If she does run, her decision to resign will not stop her.

The Palin Factor

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The philosophical error that brought about the French Revolution was based upon Rousseau's idea that humans are born basically good and then become evil by corrupt social institutions. This overlooks the constant struggle between good and evil which is the real condition of man as a creature with free will.

The denial of free will is the form of this struggle in the modern world. This is why in America the majority of citizens are grossly under-represented in government. The majority is forced to tolerate racial and ethnic minorities who then clamor for more and more free government services. The struggle plays itself out as the citizenry reasserts its power through an act of free will, rejecting the false premises of tyranny.

Sarah Palin represents the true American type of liberty and independence from oppressive government. Her mixed racial family proves that the problem is not whites against blacks or other people of color, as some would have us believe. The challenge for America over the next decade will be to peel away minority support for Obama, while giving the mainstream majority a clear alternative to bureaucratic government.

The majority will have to claim power at the local level, and in so doing, attract minority constituents to join forces in solidarity. When people realize that they don't really need federal and state subsidies, the need for more and bigger government will disappear.

Palin's Announcement Happy Surprise

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Sarah Palin's announcement that she will be stepping down as Alaska governor brings her back into the field as a serious presidential contender, which had been previously jeopardized by her husband's association with a secessionist group in the state.

Being on the political speaking circuit and doing political ads will be far more lucrative than her compensation for holding public office. These opportunities will not last forever. In addition, she now has the chance to buck the Republican establishment as Ronald Reagan was able to do in 1980.

FCC Should Suspend Sleaze, Liar Letterman

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

It has been said that there is no shortage of coarseness in America. Obviously David Letterman's crude comments about Sarah Palin and her family are beyond the pale of ordinary decency.

In the past, the FCC has levied fines against the network operators who allow profanity on the airwaves. In Letterman's case, this will not solve the problem. Letterman has shown no remorse for his wrongdoing. Instead, he joked about it on his late night show.

Sports figures are usually fined and suspended for violations such as steroid use. The FCC should suspend Letterman from appearing on television or radio for at least one year.
