Call it a sense of entitlement, call it the me generation. All across America, irresponsible people are trying to bilk the system and take advantage of our hard won freedoms.
Like the Connecticut lady whose chimpanzee went on a rampage, women in America think that they have the right to abort and to use contraception ignoring the wisdom accumulated for over thousands of years of history that these things lead to big trouble.
The chimp lady wanted the police to shoot the ape only after it had already attacked and injured her friend. What about the warning signs from prior incidents before this incident? Why was the ape on Zanax? Why did this woman think that she knew better than what society already knew, that wild animals should never be kept as pets or substitute children?
The analogy with abortion and contraception is clear. The courts tried to nullify the laws only after a large segment of society led by Women's Liberation fanatics already rejected the reasonable legal standards from before. In this respect, the judges and lawmakers were cowardly for surrendering principle to gain accolades or reelection. The media also tends to promote irresponsible and antisocial behavior. Now the chickens are coming home to roost with children conceived outside of marriage in growing numbers, children conceived through in vitro fertilization, children who don't have both a father and mother but two parents of the same gender, all of which are generally socially reprehensible by the standards of traditional wisdom through centuries of human history.
Are we going to be like the woman with the chimpanzee who could not learn her lesson until after her friend's brutal attack by a dumb monkey?
