Senate Flounders on Health Care

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

As America awaits the coming of a newborn infant this Christmas, our representatives in Washington DC are scrambling to get the vote on the Senate version of the health care bill done before the Christmas recess so that a bill will be ready for Obama to sign. Of course the bill will not be perfect. The Senate will again betray the American people, this time by failing to include adequate safeguards to protect the lives of unborn American children by surreptitiously and sinisterly diverting public funds to private insurers and other payees that promote abortion. Some government this is.

Government of the People

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

It wasn't for nothing that the Founders included safeguards in our Constitution to keep those of questionable status from occupying the highest office in the land, that of President of the United States. Today, legal scholars can quibble all they want over whether or not the Fourteenth Amendment substantially changes the restrictions on eligibility of Article II, Section 1. However, in the person of Barack Hussein Obama, America is witnessing the very form of anarchy of which the Founding Fathers warned against.

Barack himself has made clear his antipathy to the Constitution as a document limiting the power of the federal government with negative provisions designed to keep the government in check. Barack the megalomaniac believes inside that the power of the federal government should be absolute. Barack and the other Washington liberals are really only interested in satisfying their own big egos. They want to impose a tyrannical dictatorship like that of ancient Egypt wherein Pharaoh has absolute power. This is really what the government economic bailouts and healthcare takeover are all about.

Americans must therefore change the course of government following the constitutional mandate protecting our individual rights and keeping big government permanently in check.

Bishops Should Reprimand Wayward Politicians

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Controversy has again erupted over the episcopal actions to admonish and instruct wayward Catholic politicians and statesmen. This benefits the people of America because our government has clearly overstepped its bounds in several vital areas.

The bishops' actions are intended to instruct and discipline Catholics, and to combat scandal caused by those in public office who publicly flaunt Church teaching. Of course, in many instances such public disapproval would have no effect or be counter-productive. It is therefore a question of prudence for each bishop to decide whether in a particular case, the matter should be handled privately, or whether a public slap on the wrist or other disciplinary action is in order.

The Palin Factor II

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

As things stand today, Sarah Palin is the only potential candidate with any chance of dethroning Obama in 2012. This is because the wealthy capitalist elite has succeeded in conditioning the electorate to believe that diversity is, in and of itself, a good thing for America.

Obama won in 2008 because he is black. It will take an even greater anomaly, namely a credible, intelligent woman candidate, to overcome Obama's presumptuousness because of race.

To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, you can only fool all of the people some of the time.

Is America Worth Saving?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Austria, although suffering the ravages of Allied bombardment, was spared the degradation of communism because of the Austrians strictly adhering to their Christian traditions. The German speaking peoples of central and eastern Europe were forcibly expelled and many suffered death as well as losing their homes and possessions, and many also were given a new lease on life in free Europe and other countries of the world.

Will Americans and Europeans be so lucky if the trend toward Islamicization continues in the West as it has over the last decade?

Quibbling about whether Hasan, the Fort Hood killer, just went over the top, or was engaging in jihad, does nothing to fix the problem. Then there is the D.C. sniper, also a Muslim, who is scheduled for execution tonight. Prisoner abuse by our enlisted soldiers is a sign of declining military discipline and morale. In sacrificing our cherished traditions on the altar of capitalism, we as a nation risk destruction.

At some point, it becomes too late to change a culture save by miraculous intervention. Has America reached that point yet? Have the envious cynics already won the culture war?

The strength of Islamic extremism is that it holds a trump card. Either do what they want or get blown up. When Christians become so lukewarm in their faith that tolerance is exalted above objective truth, then the Muslim moral absolutes, no matter how flawed, prevail, just as communism once did.

Bush Doctrine on Target

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Capitalism contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction.

Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda were primarily responsible for financing the terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. Other than training the hijackers, they had little to do with the actual attack on 9/11. Today, Osama is either dead or incapacitated.

The real culprits of 9/11 were the same crowd who tried to blow up the WTO in 1993, attempted to assassinate the pope and stage airplane hijackings from the Philippines in January 1995, and masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing in April of that year. The leaders of this gang of thugs were Ramsey Yousef and Khalid Sheik Mohammed, both with ties to Iraq and possibly receiving financial aid from bin Laden and his family. This is also corroborated by bin Laden's own statement in 2001 that those responsible for 9/11 acted as free independent agents.

The administration of George W. Bush did not want to implicate Iraq because that would have shown how stupid it really was to attack Saddam's forces after the Kuwait invasion in 1991. Still, there remains a clear trail of blood leading out of Iraq between 1991 and 2001.

America has clearly stopped terrorism in its tracks. All that is left to do now is orderly withdrawals of US and NATO forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Has the GOP Run Its Course?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The 23rd congressional race is shaping up to be a battle in upstate New York between two liberals and one conservative. The Republican candidate was hand picked to represent views antithetical to most conservative Republicans. This sends the clear message that the Republican Party is just another materialistic, bureaucratic monstrosity that does not represent real American citizens.

Is there room for a fledgling third party?

The country is leaning more and more toward doing away with abortion. Any sensible person realizes that jobs and the economy cannot take precedence over whether future generations of Americans are allowed to be born, or are killed off. The great lie foisted upon America is slowly being unraveled.

Independents are more likely to choose a third party candidate when both of the major parties show contempt for American good sense and values. The real problem is a lack of real community. Capitalists abhor authentic community spirit because it means that people will not be as easily cajoled into accepting bribes in exchange for their liberty. Authentic immigrant communities did exist, but were put down and ridiculed by greedy upstarts who themselves lived isolated from any real community. These cynics in turn were rewarded and built up by the wealthy class, until even the political leadership of the communities lost its authenticity and became part of the materialistic mass culture. This is the source of America's problems today. But it is also the source of a greater good, because the seeds of the communities that have disappeared still exist and are indestructible. The cultural war rages on.

Rational Health Care Needed

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

There is no reason why America which put a man on the moon cannot bring about a health care system workable for all.

A just health care bill must overtly exclude abortion from health care benefits. This will shift the cost of all abortions to those seeking abortions, thereby reducing the frequency of abortion in America.

Health care must be affordable for all. Since most health care costs are incurred in the last months of life, we should strive to minimize the more costly medical procedures such as organ transplants and brain surgery for the elderly. Examples of misplaced resources include, for example, the costly brain surgeries performed on Robert Novak and on Teddy Kennedy when they only had less than two years to live. These scarce medical resources could have been better allocated to providing basic care for the poor, or hospice care for the elderly. A rational health care system should require that all extra costly services and extraordinary services be charged directly against the recipient.

Health care benefits must include all immigrants here legally. Most of these immigrant families work for a living. Requiring employers to obtain health care coverage for all full time employees should therefore also include these families as well, who will then share in the cost. Legal immigrants who are poor and unemployed should also receive benefits along with those American families who cannot afford coverage at reduced premiums.

No Appeasement for Obama

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

We have all heard the story about how the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain appeased Adolf Hitler at Munich in 1938 paving the way for World War II and the holocaust. Today, the Left is appeasing Barack Hussein Obama.

Clearly, Obama is not fit to be our Commander in Chief. He is the illegitimate son of a Muslim foreigner. In this respect, he has the same status legally as would a child of the 9/11 hijacker Mohammad Atta, if Atta had fathered any children during his brief sojourn here in America on a student visa.

This man must be stopped. Currently, a federal action brought by enlisted soldiers and other concerned citizens, challenging Obama's authority to deploy troops to places like Iraq and Afghanistan, is scheduled for jury trial on January 26, 2010 in Santa Ana, California. I hope the court rules against Obama and the rest of those blockheads named as defendants in this lawsuit.

The sooner this case moves forward, the sooner will our fighting men and women get their day in court. This is an essential preliminary step toward the future Nuremberg style tribunals that will hold accountable the arrogant wrongdoers in our government, once the disaster facing America finally comes to an end.

What about Those Born on US Soil?

Good question.
http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Think about it a minute. Everyone knows that most, if not all, of the 9/11 hijackers were here in America legally. Let's just suppose hypothetically that one of these hijackers, say Mohammad Atta, was instrumental in conceiving a child later born in Florida. Would the mere fact that the child was born on US soil give that illegitimate child an entitlement of eligibility to one day occupy the highest office in the land, that of President of the United States? Same situation as Obama. Father being a Muslim foreigner, enters the US legally, gets his girlfriend pregnant. (Remember, Barry's father was still married to the woman in Kenya at the time).

The short answer is no. Merely being born on US soil does not confer an entitlement to someday being eligible to be President. That was the reason why the Framers put in the words "natural born" before "citizen" in reference to qualifications for the office of President, whereas they just specify that Senators and Congressional Representatives be ordinary citizens. Likewise, a mere congressional resolution that someone who was not born on US soil but whose parents are US citizens is henceforth a natural born citizen does not confer on that person any entitlement to eligibility to be President.

Confusion may arise because at the time the Constitution was ratified in 1789, there was no Fourteenth Amendment, so all future citizens born after 1789 were either natural born citizens following the English common law criteria, or became citizens through the process of naturalization. The Fourteenth Amendment to protect the Negroid extended citizenship to all those born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, whether or not their parents were citizens. This leaves open the question of whether a child, one or both of whose parents are here illegally, who happens to be born in the United States, is or is not a citizen, which depends on whether the child falls within the jurisdiction of the United States or that of a foreign power. If we use the same criteria that all citizens are either those that are natural born citizens or those that are naturalized, we run into problems because the Framers clearly never intended that all persons born on American soil would be natural born citizens and so eligible to hold the office of President.

The court is asked to decide whether the Fourteenth Amendment is an assertion that all those who are now citizens by virtue of being born on US soil, but who would not have been natural born citizens in 1789 by virtue of either one or both parents not being US citizens at the time of their birth, but rather subjects of a foreign power, automatically acquire eligibility to hold the office of President, which would not have been the case had they been born in 1789 as they would not have been natural born citizens at that time as required in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.  This may be a case of first impression.

This case will probably reach the US Supreme Court. Obama is too arrogant to do the right thing and resign like Nixon did in 1974.

Creative Minority Needed

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Benedict XVI, reflecting on dwindling church attendance among Christians in the post-Communist Czech Republic, told journalists en route to Prague "that normally those who determine the future are the creative minority."

In America, Jews have always filled this role of helping to set the agenda. Recent trends show that while most Americans still believe in a Supreme Being and profess to being Christian, fewer and fewer young people identify with any particular religion. This means that for the future, Christian believers who are regular church goers will have to become another creative minority lending new ideas and a unique moral perspective to the increasingly secularized society at large.

Europe is also heading in the same direction, with fewer and fewer Christians who practice their faith regularly. Also, the European Union continues to be reticent about expressing constitutionally the formative influence of Christianity in shaping European culture over the centuries. Both America and Europe are becoming dominated by secular, cultural elites, out of touch with the vast majority of citizens.

Limited Government and the Principle of Subsidiarity

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

After the Revolutionary War in 1776, there were in effect thirteen sovereign states in America. Adopting the Articles of Confederation just meant that these states were willing to band together for common purposes such as defense and trade. The Constitution enacted in 1787 was designed to uphold the sovereignty of the several states within one nation.

The principle of subsidiarity prohibits government at a higher level from doing things that can be done locally or at a lower level. This is essentially the basis for the Tenth Amendment in the Bill of Rights which limits the scope of the federal government to having only those powers enumerated in the constitution.

With the outbreak of the Civil War, President Lincoln had to take emergency measures to keep the Union together. During this time, the war powers of the executive branch of government grew.

The Baucus Bill on health care is a clear violation of the principle of subsidiarity. The best health care will not be provided by the federal government. In order to preserve good government in America, Americans must band together to vote out of office the president, and all senators and congressional representatives who vote in favor of the transfer of power over medical insurance to the federal government, or who vote in favor of the nationalization of health insurance or the so-called public option.

Was W More of a Liability?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Historians are now beginning to reexamine the role of Sir Winston Churchill in taking down the British Empire. While none of us can say for sure what effect the Bush presidencies have or will have on America, it is worthwhile to look at the track record.

George H. W. Bush by all accounts got America into the first Gulf War over what was essentially a disputed piece of real estate known as Kuwait, and over the alleged rape of Kuwaiti women by Iraqi men. While there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein was a mean, oppressive dictator who used poison gas against the Kurds and his enemies in Iran, and who quelled public dissent through torture and assassinations, was there really a valid reason to send troops to fight against Iraq in 1990-1991?

Before terrorism became a commonplace, household word, America had the dubious luxury to defend the ideals of freedom throughout the world using our military might. This essentially is what got us bogged down in an unwinnable war in Vietnam, although there was never any serious threat of the war spilling over onto American soil. Today, America no longer has that luxury to go to war on behalf of Israel and other client states. The costs are just too great.

Today, the terms "necessary" and "discretionary" as applied to wars have become all but obsolete, and we should stop using them. War is always a losing proposition. There are times when a nation must take defensive action in self-defense, or in defense of others against an aggressor. However, the decision to go to war is never properly made as something necessary in the sense of being determined by evolution. Man always has a choice, and our leaders must take full responsibility when they commit our boys and girls to fight overseas. Likewise, wars are never discretionary in the sense that one can make a decision based upon a cost-benefit analysis. Those who start wars as a matter of personal discretion should be held fully accountable for all losses sustained on both sides.

So, the question is, did George W. Bush's term of office, in which we went to war full scale to topple Saddam, bring about better or worse results overall for America? This question is separate from whether voters did the right thing in electing President Bush because of his pro-life commitment.

We have fought long enough. It is time to come home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Globalism versus Protectionism

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Is the current trade imbalance good or bad?

America is already consuming a big chunk of the world's resources. Foreign competition insures that the work Americans are doing is actually useful in the world context. If people of other nations can produce for less, why should Americans be paid more for doing the same things? The importing of goods acts as an incentive at home to make our economy benefit the people of America. At the present time, the trend is toward redistribution. This should lead to greater independence at the local level for basic necessities including health care to protect Americans from the vicissitudes of the global marketplace. Perhaps we will see a return to local community doctors making house calls. The important thing is that all of us will get care when we need it, and at less cost.

Looking at the world from a global perspective, it is not good to put up barriers to trade with other nations. The less developed countries, as was America 200 years ago, do not value free trade, job safety, and the protection of the environment as we do. If they lose jobs, generally more people are reduced to substandard living conditions. If America loses jobs, we as the wealthiest nation on earth simply readjust our priorities, making political decisions that give everyone the basic necessities of life, while giving people new opportunities for education and for jobs that meet real human needs. The end result is that the less developed countries grow relative to us, and they then adopt more liberal economic policies and stricter environmental and employment protection safeguards.

Redefining the Role of Women in America

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

In order for America to remain competitive in an increasingly sophisticated global marketplace, American women must assume a role different from the uppity, grasping, power hungry, career oriented shrews portrayed by the media. It is a plus that women have the opportunity to work in all types of jobs and professions for which they have the basic skills. The problem arises because of the tendency for politicians and lawmakers to give preferences to women and minorities which take away good jobs from men among the majority who have more innate intelligence because of their inherited Y-DNA.

The Atlantic Modal haplotype comprises most of the men of Western Europe and North America. In the past, this group has been the most successful and earned the most money while America as a whole was prospering.

Today, because of affirmative action and quotas in educational placement and hiring, Atlantic Modal males are not, in many cases, getting the best jobs and making the most money. This gives the competitive advantage to the growing economies of India and China in the Far East.

Therefore, it is in the best interest of American women to accept an important and ancillary role in the economy with a corresponding pay cut so that more intelligent men can advance higher on the economic ladder. This in no way diminishes the role of women in society, but rather helps to bring out their God-given abilities and aptitudes.

Of course women will always be needed for the most important job of all, that of mother to bring into existence and to raise up the next generations of Americans.
