Hamlet Story Ends Tragically

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The gist of the Hamlet legend is that those guilty of murder do not escape unpunished.  As Hamlet has become a metaphor for Obama and his deliberative response to major issues, America could be in for some big changes.

Hamlet did eventually avenge his father's murder.  Both the murderer, Hamlet's uncle, and Hamlet's mother ended up being killed, as did Hamlet himself, and others.  The figure of the Danish legend was ultimately killed in battle against a later rival for the kingship.  To carry the analogy a step further, the question arises whether our modern day Hamlet will pay a political price for his dithering and ultimate acquiescence to the military buildup in Afghanistan while secretly planning to withdraw American forces during the coming years.

On another level, it may be asked whether those responsible for the torture and unjust killing of Iraqi and Afghan detainees will be punished for their crimes, as Hamlet's uncle eventually was.

Clemmons Clemency Should Put Huckabee Out of Race

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Once again, the field is narrowing for 2012. In the absence of a strong pro-life Democrat or third party candidate to challenge Obama, the two front runners on the right are now Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.

Mike Huckabee acted as more of a spoiler in the Republican primary last year which may have sealed Romney's fate. Now with the news of the Seattle cop killings allegedly at the hands of the released convict Maurice Clemmons now deceased, his credibility as a law and order candidate has justifiably sunk.

The question then becomes, will Romney or Palin, if elected in 2012, continue a failed war policy in Afghanistan, or bring the troops home?

Extraterrestrial Possibilities

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The Vatican's recent conference on the possibility of extraterrestrial life opens up a new way of thinking about man's place in the universe. Science may be on the verge of discovering microbial life beyond earth's limits within our solar system. Such a discovery would greatly increase the odds of intelligent life existing somewhere beyond.

Apart from the possibility of a war of the worlds, this allows for appreciating man's inherent limitations as a creature, and the great gift of freedom which God gave to mankind in creating man in His own image and likeness. Man's eternal life is verified by recent evolutionary theory which demonstrates that there is a direction from the simple and material to the more complex and spiritual, culminating in the development of human consciousness on earth.

If intelligent beings do exist beyond earth's bounds, they will certainly not be endowed with the gift of an immortal soul as we humans are. Their intelligence will be a highly refined animal intelligence, and will be specialized to adapt to different environmental conditions within different locations in the various galaxies on planets which have similar conditions to our own. It will then be the challenge of our posterity to conquer, milk these intelligent beings and harvest their brains for our own well being.

More importantly for today is to view the conditions on earth with these possibilities in mind, allowing us to see how powerless and insignificant we are as creatures. Thus, it will become possible to resolve human conflicts without resorting to force and violence. For example, we can implement a military exit from Afghanistan without suffering dire consequences just as the Russians did in February of 1989.

Bush Doctrine on Target

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Capitalism contains within itself the seeds of its own destruction.

Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda were primarily responsible for financing the terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. Other than training the hijackers, they had little to do with the actual attack on 9/11. Today, Osama is either dead or incapacitated.

The real culprits of 9/11 were the same crowd who tried to blow up the WTO in 1993, attempted to assassinate the pope and stage airplane hijackings from the Philippines in January 1995, and masterminded the Oklahoma City bombing in April of that year. The leaders of this gang of thugs were Ramsey Yousef and Khalid Sheik Mohammed, both with ties to Iraq and possibly receiving financial aid from bin Laden and his family. This is also corroborated by bin Laden's own statement in 2001 that those responsible for 9/11 acted as free independent agents.

The administration of George W. Bush did not want to implicate Iraq because that would have shown how stupid it really was to attack Saddam's forces after the Kuwait invasion in 1991. Still, there remains a clear trail of blood leading out of Iraq between 1991 and 2001.

America has clearly stopped terrorism in its tracks. All that is left to do now is orderly withdrawals of US and NATO forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Both Wars Stink

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

While the MSM has predictably jumped on the Obama bandwagon in distinguishing between the Iraq war as a war of choice as opposed to the Afghanistan war of necessity, the fact remains that both wars together have taken a huge toll in terms of American lives, economic resources, and world recognition. The criticism leveled against Bush 43 for leading American forces into Iraq is not altogether justified. There had to be some strong military response after 9/11. To blame everything on Al Qaeda, and the Afghan Taliban for harboring Al Qaeda, seems simplistic at best. Saddam's regime was far more brutal and dictatorial than that of the Taliban, and was responsible for some of the terrorist violence preceding 9/11.

Unfortunately, America's war crimes, particularly those directed against detainees many of whom were demonstrably innocent, more than offset any rational justification for war at this point. Capitalism breeds vindictiveness. The legitimate goal of interrogation gave way to the temptation to exact vengeance and to dehumanize and ridicule.

Obama's exit strategy is the beginning of our economic recovery. Iraq and Afghanistan will never become like us. The sooner we realize this, the better.

Obama's Afghan War Policy Makes Sense So Far

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Americans are sick and tired of nation building which is just a recipe for more big government. President Obama acts wisely in resisting the tempting pleas of the military brass for higher troop levels. The goal in Afghanistan should not be to remake a small nation into a democracy like us. The Afghans have clearly demonstrated that they do not want a society based upon free elections, even though we Americans may think that we know what is best for them.

As in Iraq, the best course to follow is to bring about an orderly exit of American and NATO forces as soon as possible through negotiating with the Taliban and other resistance forces, while avoiding a bloodbath. Karzai will have to go. It is just a question of how long he has to act as puppet.

Afghanistan was not the good, necessary war any more than Iraq was the bad war of choice. Saddam's was by far a worse dictatorship than that of the Taliban. Either way, Muslims do not believe in democracy. They believe in total submission to Allah. That is why their women cover their heads in public, and not because of a paternalistic, male dominated society.

Obama, being a Christian brought up in the Muslim tradition, is uniquely qualified to act as peacemaker with respect to Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. The key to peace is that we show mutual respect for each other's civilizations and cultures.

FOI What a Joke!

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

Before the Freedom of Information Act, the government only released whatever information it wanted to release. Today, the government only releases what it wants because of corrupt judges and Senators who change the meaning of the law in specific cases.

Fox News recently filed an FOI Claim demanding the release of the financial records of the Federal Reserve having to do with TARP. The result? A federal justice orders the release of exactly one document and then dismisses the rest of the action without explanation.

The government was ordered on appeal to release evidence of misconduct with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan. The result? Senators Graham and Lieberman have introduced bipartisan legislation supported by the president that would exempt certain photographic records taken between September 11, 2001 and January 22, 2009 which happens to be the anniversary of Roe vs Wade.

The government has already released photographs and videos of mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib in 2004 which, because of their pornographic nature, have diminished American prestige throughout the world and seriously endanger our troops. The question arises, were not these photographs and videos bad enough? Is the unreleased evidence even more damning than the released evidence? This would be the inescapable conclusion of a Democratic Congress amending the FOA, which already has a national security exemption with which the government is unable to comply, to exclude the very evidence that the federal appellate justice ordered produced.

The released photos include evidence of forced nudity, sleep deprivation, masturbation in front of our soldiers, rape, and dogs used to scare and bite detainees.

In all probability, the unreleased photographs show even worse forms of abuse. What could be worse except than certain forms of indecency which would prove that the homosexual agenda traitors, again sponsored by certain Senators and Congressional Representatives who have betrayed America, are allowed to act with impunity? Adolf Hitler himself was known to practice coprophilia. The LA Times ran a story after the Iraq invasion in 2003 about a sexual sadist who held a command position in Iraq.  If America does not act to expel this subculture of sexual perverts in our government and in our military, and stop the massive increases in unpaid government debt, we as a nation will very soon be facing the same fate as Germany did in 1949.

This evidence must be released to quell the speculation about America at home and abroad, and to expose and punish those in our government who allowed this thing to happen, both the abuses under predominantly Republican administrations and the cover-ups under predominantly Democrat administrations including Senators Graham and Lieberman. Punishment is warranted for violations of the Treaty of Westphalia in 1658-1659 which ended the Thirty Years War, and the Geneva Conventions and decisions at Nuremberg after WWII.

America must first come clean by releasing all of the evidence, and then start telling our ungrateful allies and surrogates throughout the world that we have our own problems to deal with.

No Appeasement for Obama

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

We have all heard the story about how the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain appeased Adolf Hitler at Munich in 1938 paving the way for World War II and the holocaust. Today, the Left is appeasing Barack Hussein Obama.

Clearly, Obama is not fit to be our Commander in Chief. He is the illegitimate son of a Muslim foreigner. In this respect, he has the same status legally as would a child of the 9/11 hijacker Mohammad Atta, if Atta had fathered any children during his brief sojourn here in America on a student visa.

This man must be stopped. Currently, a federal action brought by enlisted soldiers and other concerned citizens, challenging Obama's authority to deploy troops to places like Iraq and Afghanistan, is scheduled for jury trial on January 26, 2010 in Santa Ana, California. I hope the court rules against Obama and the rest of those blockheads named as defendants in this lawsuit.

The sooner this case moves forward, the sooner will our fighting men and women get their day in court. This is an essential preliminary step toward the future Nuremberg style tribunals that will hold accountable the arrogant wrongdoers in our government, once the disaster facing America finally comes to an end.

To Be or not to Be?

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/

The CliffsNotes rendition of Shakespeare's Hamlet apparently has Hamlet's indecisiveness as the central theme, or at least that would appear to be the case based upon recent comparisons to Obama's indecision on Afghanistan and acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize. This fits nicely with the "values free" trend in public education.

While my expertise is not Shakespearean literature, having only once seen the play Hamlet performed many years ago by a Los Angeles theatre arts company in conjunction with a my high school alma mater noted for turning out highly acclaimed actors and actresses, my impression was quite different.

Shakespeare's motivation was always religious in nature, primarily stemming from the persecution of Catholics in England. Hamlet was a morality play about murder, based loosely on the Danish war hero Amleth, whose legends transcribed by Saxo Grammaticus in 1185 probably derive from a real person who lived in Denmark much earlier. To my way of thinking, the movie trailer for Last Action Hero featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Hamlet conveys Shakespeare's meaning much better.

Although ending tragically, the moral is clear. Murderers will not go unpunished.

Connecting the Dots

http://westernperspective.blogspot.com/
What really happened on 9/11?

Osama bin Laden was a renegade CIA asset who turned against the West after fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan, apparently because of his hatred for the Saudi regime. Looking at it in this context, there may be a plausible explanation for what happened.

It is inconceivable to me that US intelligence was not aware of a plot by al Qaeda to attack the Twin Towers using commercial airplanes as missiles on 9/11. Our military was undoubtedly prepared well in advance for anything that might have happened, and in retrospect anything that did happen. A decision was made at the top levels to allow the airplane hijackings to take place if the hijackers could get past ordinary airport security, and this is the key element of solving the puzzle.

President Bush was still in the dark to all of this before it happened. That is why he was commenting on the virtues of literacy to school kids when it happened.

Because our government knew of the threat well in advance, efforts were taken in conjunction with Israeli intelligence to minimize the collateral damage of flack in the event that the terrorist attacks were to materialize. We know that the Twin Towers were evacuated and the buildings closed for several days prior to 9/11. It is likely that Israeli intelligence agents took this opportunity in cooperation with the WTO lessee Larry Silverstein to plant high powered explosives at strategic locations within the buildings. This would explain why Israelis were observed celebrating on the rooftop of a nearby building on the morning of 9/11, and Larry Silverstein's statement that he had made a comment regarding WTO 7 to the NYFD Commander to "just pull it" implying that he had advanced knowledge of explosives planted in the building.

The two hijacked airplanes that did not strike the towers were both shot down by scrambling Air Force jets. That is why President Bush gave special recognition to the crew of airmen. The stories about passengers wrestling with the hijackers and Barbara Olson's cell phone conversation from above Washington were complete fabrications necessary to provide security cover. Both airplanes were shot down in midair.

A missile was then fired directly into the Pentagon. The refurbishing work on the Pentagon at the location of the strike was decided upon months before as part of the contingency plan to reduce civilian and military causalities in the event that the missile strike would be ordered, probably by VP Cheney, on 9/11.

From a moral perspective, the question is whether a government can order a strike on a military target of its own forces to provide security cover for another defensive maneuver against an enemy attack if precautions are taken to reduce the loss of life.
