If Romney wins his home state of Michigan, he will be unstoppable going into Super Tuesday next month. He will need the support of Ron Paul in order to defeat Obama in November. Paul can therefore extract major concessions including a prime-time speaking slot at the Tampa Convention, adding fiscally responsible planks to the Republican Platform, and input and access on foreign policy, defense, and financial issues, including no pre-emptive strike against Iran and repealing the Federal Reserve Act as major White House policy objectives.
Conservatives in America are now left with a choice among four essentially Rockefeller Republican liberals. Of these four, Romney is by far the most conservative. Santorum and Gingrich have shown their liberal credentials by voting in favor of such pork barrel projects as No Child Left Behind, or offering services to Freddie Mac. Ron Paul has become soft and an outspoken supporter of contraception.
Romney's flip-flopping will help him win the votes of Independents and steal from Obama the votes of disgruntled Democrats. He will lead America into the best American 21st century.
