Widespread speculation abounds that Obama may try a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities before the upcoming election in November to rally the nation around himself personally. To understand how ridiculous that is, consider that Israel has the most to gain by starting a war between the US and Iran, and that obviously Obama detests Netanyahu and vice versa.
Obama's narcissism and lust for power will never cause him to act like foolhardy neo-conservatives expect. He understands quite well that going to war against Iran after losing in Afghanistan and Iraq would be the stupidest mistake in US history. As all egomaniacs from Caesar to Adolf Hitler, Obama cares deeply about his "legacy".
What could possibly prompt the neo-cons to make these absurd allegations?
Ron Paul represents a real challenge to neo-conservative ideology that has dominated our government since 2001. If Paul wins either as the Republican nominee or as a third party candidate, he will expose neo-conservatism as a sham. America will not go to war against Iran, Iran will have a nuclear device for its own self-defense vis-á-vis Israel, and none of the adverse consequences heralded in MSM will actually transpire. There will be peace in our time.
At this stage in the game, Paul is realistically the only hope of denying Obama a second term this year. In a two man race between Paul and Obama, Paul would win. Obama wins against a weak conservative. In a three man race, Paul could win or force the election to a House vote by states, thereby guaranteeing victory to either himself or the Republican nominee.
