Obama's reelection will be the death toll for the Republican Party in national politics. The fundamental question in store for America is whether we as a nation can reach a gentleman's agreement to replace capitalism with a more just, non-socialistic economic system, or whether we will make the same mistakes that the Europeans have made in embracing a socialist utopia.
The McCain campaign, dogged with sexual harassment allegations, has little chance against the combined forces of the Democratic Chicago-style machine politics and liberal establishment media. Romney has the potential to at least put up a good fight against Obama.
There are good and bad people in both Occupy and the Tea Party. There may eventually evolve a convergence of ideas which will unite non-socialists ranging from distributists, green sustainability advocates, anti-war proponents, pro-lifers, etc., who will take the lead in revitalizing a dying culture.
As Toqueville rightly foresaw, lawyers have largely become the
de facto American aristocracy. The lawyer's task is to bring about justice within society. Obama is a lawyer, as are many in Congress and on the Supreme Court, together making up the three branches of our federal system of government. How will the lawyers bring about justice in a post-capitalist world?
