Obama's poll numbers continue their downward slide in the wake of
Birthergate and the sagging economy. Will the Democratic leadership
pressure Obama to not seek a second term in 2012?
First of all, Democrats need to get at lease 80-90% of the African
American vote in order to win a presidential election. Forcing Obama
not to run would be objectively viewed as a slap in the face to African
Americans, even if they were to nominate another African American
candidate.
Secondly, they would have to then nominate Hillary hoping that she would
draw enough women voters to counterbalance the defection of Black
voters. It will not work.
