America has no dog in the fight against Gaddafi in Libya. Far from
being Obama's Bay of Pigs, Libya may turn out to be Obama's crowning
moment in world diplomacy. Obama wisely rejected the boodthirsty,
sanguinary cries for air strikes from the oil lobby and their minions.
This led to a UN resolution authorizing a no-fly zone over Libyan
airspace, and real action initiated by our European allies, foremost
among them the former colonial caretaker France, with
possible future support from the Arab League. Obama knows that no true
peace in the Arab world will ever result from Israeli backed US nation
building schemes.
Gadaffi appears to be right in saying that this will be a long war, and one that America would be wise to stay out of.
