Egypt's pharaonic dictator Hosni Mubarak acted wisely retaining
political power pending the September elections while putting his VP
Suleiman in charge of the day to day decision making. Egypt needs
stability at this critical juncture, not abrupt change. Omar Suleiman
represents the last vestiges of the Ottoman Empire. Although he has
been accused of torture, he now can redeem himself by helping Egypt to
make a smooth peaceful transition toward free elections and democratic rule.
