I once caught a glimpse of Michael Jackson. Having gone outside of the
Sheraton Universal Hotel at Universal City for a breath of fresh air
and a cup of coffee, I walked around to one side of the building away
from everyone. Then several men came out of a side door across the lane
from where I was standing and I noticed that one of them was Michael
Jackson looking a bit inquisitive. I don't know whether the others were
his brothers, or chauffeur and bodyguards. They got into a parked car
and drove away, that was it.
About that time, I had been
listening to one of his recordings in my car cassette player. I guess
that was before CDs. I had grown up listening to the Jackson Five on
the radio. I always knew that there was something special about
Michael's talent as a performer and video artist. He received praise
from such diverse world figures as Gene Kelly, Jackie Kennedy and
Vaclav Havel.
I believe Michael underwent the surgical change of
skin pigmentation because of self-hatred engendered by the centuries of
discrimination and abuse suffered by his ancestors. After the
prosecution for child abuse, he was a disheartened, broken man living
in Las Vegas. Something just didn't add up. Why would anyone married to
Lisa Marie Presley want to molest children?
There is something
in the culture that causes some parents to try to exploit their
children by making up stories about famous celebrities in order to get
money from court settlements. I think this is what happened with
Michael Jackson. Then we have vindictive cops and stupid overzealous
deputy DAs in Santa Barbara County who could not resist the opportunity
of another high profile lynching. Could that have been motivated by
jealousy?
