The tragic killing of the security guard yesterday at the DC Memorial
Museum should generate a review of whether tax dollars are being
foolishly squandered unnecessarily. This Museum is not representative
of our national heritage. Before the shooting incident, a labor union
official presumably from AFSCME representing government workers
requested that security personnel in the building be provided with
bullet proof vests. This request was denied.
There are plenty of
worthy military memorials such as Arlington National Cemetery funded
with tax dollars. The Museum was closed for one day today. While
Americans are being asked by government to cut back, why do we continue
to spend our money for government health care and pension benefits and
other costs of operation for these excessively pork barrel projects?
Keep the Museum closed for good.
