The overall effect of the trillion dollar bailout packages will be to hasten the demise of world capitalism. This will happen because the system of capitalism is itself antithetical to authentic human values.
Socialism reduces the creative forces in society to a mere adjunct of the state. This leaves society bland and weak in vitality. Socialism as an outgrowth of the Western Christian tradition does bear some semblance to the Christian values of justice and charity. However, all too often the family is swallowed up by the all encompassing state.
Institutional changes tend to replace greed and the profit motive with a system based on equality and fairness. This is part of the natural process of evolution. Man is not beholden to any economic system. Man can choose to create a just social order at any stage of the evolutionary process.
